Pacemaker (Implantable)

Hearts naturally have a pacemaker and should not be confused with implantable pacemakers. The job of the hearts pacemaker is to regulate the beating of the heart using electrical shocks. If the hearts natural pacemaker fails then it is common for an implantable artificial pacemaker to be used to regulate the hearts rhythm.

Palpitation

An abnormality of the heart, a palpitation is identified by the patients awareness of a rapid, irregular heartbeat. Palpitations can be triggered by stress, strain, exercise or as a symptom of another illness.
