Defib (Defib Unit)

A device used to detect and treat a victim with an irregular heart rhythm. Manual defib units are designed for professional, trained medical staff whereas automated external defibrillators can be used by people with little or no training

Defibrillation

The use of equipment to administer a therapeutic electrical shock to the heart to stop an irregular heart rhythm, commonly provided by a defib unit. Defibrillation is the most successful treatment of the few that exist to sudden cardiac arrest.
