Defibrillator Training

Defibrillator Training

For workplaces that decide to provide a defibrillator, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) states that those who may need to use it should be trained. Defibrillator training ensures that when cardiac arrest occurs, the responder is able to react quickly and confidently. Research shows that for every minute that passes without defibrillation, the chances of the patient's survival are reduced by 10%. So, being prepared and able to act quickly is vital.

The Defib Pad offers defibrillator training courses for individuals or small groups of up to 12 at your site anywhere in mainland UK. Our professional training courses can be tailored to your requirements and all participants will receive a certificate upon completion. Delegates learn effective CPR, how to operate a defibrillator and basic emergency first aid skills. We cover both adult and paediatric rsponses and the half day training courses should be renewed every 12 months to ensure the responders remain confident.

Defibrillators, specifically fully automatic units, have been designed to be used by laypersons, but it is always best to have trained persons on hand where possible. Training AEDs (that do not deliver shocks) can be used in conjunction with training electrode pads and are ideal for practical demonstrations and practice sessions. This hands-on approach allows people to get used to the look, feel, use and instructions of a unit and can help to give confidence to users should they ever have to use a defibrillator in a real life emergency. Additional equipment for defibrillator training units include remote controls, mannequin adapters, mannequins / resusci annes and CPR practice devices.
